The Arizona Diamondbacks were hit with a major blow after Corbin Burnes reportedly decided to undergo Tommy John surgery, ruling him out for the remainder of the season.
As such, the Diamondbacks are left with a major void in the rotation, which the team would like to fill before the trade deadline. As soon as the season-ending surgery was reported by ESPN's Jeff Passan, options started to pop up on who could replace the right hander.
Former LA Angels infielder Cole Tucker suggested Diamondbacks star Jordan Lawlar as one name that the club can push out before trade deadline to get a good pitcher in return.

"I wonder if Jordan Lawlar is a name—and a guy—who's on the table," Tucker said of the 22-year old. "He's got 25 days of service time in the big leagues. They weren't really playing him when he was up. He played once a week, maybe twice a week. Maybe some organization wants a projectable infielder with a bat to come in and find his footing in the big leagues for them.
"I feel like he's a guy who could possibly move, because that's what they're going to have to balance ... if he's not in their plans with the makeup of their roster right now, I would go try to find some pitching and and see if anyone bites on Lawler."
Tucker suggested that Lawlar is a good player who could make the roster of several other major league teams. Thus, he could be handy for the Dbacks at trade deadline.
What did Diamondbacks skipper say about Corbin Burnes' season ending surgery?
Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo was informed about Corbin Burnes' Tommy John surgery requirement on Friday. This development comes after Burnes injured his right (throwing) elbow on Sunday against the Washington Nationals in the fifth inning.
“It was a lot of information, a lot of fast-moving information, a lot of people weighed in on this, and Corbin felt like this was the best decision for him to continue pushing forward,” Lovullo said.
Earlier in the offseason, Burnes signed a six-year, $210 million with the Diamondbacks. Before hitting the 60-day injured list, Burnes posted a 2.66 ERA while going 3-2.
