Astros to host Angels for a three-game series at Minute Maid Park starting from 20th May

Almost two months into the new MLB season, the Houston Astros and LA Angels are set to face each other. Both teams have had the taste of defeat one too many times this season and have faced a pretty disappointing start so far.

With a win-loss record of 21-26, the Astros are currently sitting in the third spot in the AL West table. Angles are currently at the bottom of that list, with a record of 18-29. Both teams would surely look to secure the first victory and hope to replicate it for the whole three-game series between them starting on Monday May 20, at Minute Maid Park.

Astros vs. Angels head-to-head

Game 1 of this series will be broadcast live on BSW today at 8:10 PM ET. Fans can also live stream it on FUBO.

Over the years of this AL West rivalry, both teams have played 200 regular-season games against each other. The Astros hold their best record of 121-79 against the Halos, with a win percentage of 60.5%. Both teams, at this stage of the competition, would try to be victorious in every game that they played, so that they could have a chance in the post-season.

Astros vs. Angels Pitching Matchups

For the Astros, their flamethrower Frambler Valdez will be starting against the Angels. The 30-year-old Venezuelan pitcher would take the mound for his seventh start of the season. He currently has an ERA of 2.95 with 31 strikeouts and a WHIP of 1.20. Even though he hasn't been at his best recently, he does have the potential to create a lot of pressure for the Angels' hitters.

The 24-year-old pitcher Reid Detmers is set to take the mound for the Halos during their matchup against the Astros. This is going to be his tenth start of the season. Detmers has an ERA of 5.19 with a record of 3-4 and 56 strikeouts. He can surely be a challenge for the Astros' hitters if not contained early on in the game.

Astros vs. Angels Prediction

Both teams have been out of shape for the better part of this season. Although the Astros have recently shown sparks of class in their last ten games by winning eight of them. The Angels on the other hand, have won just four of their last ten. The Houston side is surely going to have an upper hand against the Angels.

Detmers will be facing the likes of Kyle Tucker, Jose Altuve, Jerremy Pena and Yordan Alvarez. Even if they do get the control over the mound, the Angels will still need to face the Astros' flamethrowers like Valdez and Justin Verlander.

The match itself is predicted to be a close one, but as it currently stands, the Astros are predicted to get something extra to push them past the finish line against the Angels.
