Aaron Judge and the New York Yankees suffered a 4-2 loss against the Kansas City Royals in Game 2 of their best-of-five ALDS. The Yankees were coming off a 6-5 victory against the Royals in their series opener on Saturday.
Yankees captain Aaron Judge continued his postseason slump, recording one hit in three at-bats with no runs, one walk, and one strikeout. With this, Judge is now 1-for-7 in the series. The six-time All-Star appears to be continuing his postseason struggles.
Since 2020, Judge has recorded 10 hits in 74 at-bats, hitting just .135 with 5 home runs and 28 strikeouts in 18 playoff games.
Several fans reacted to Aaron Judge’s struggles in their recent games, with some comparing him to Alex Rodriguez.
“Contact is good. Just make contact. Long month. He’ll get out of this funk,” a fan said.
“Aaron Judge is a Yankee legend (in the regular season). 🤣,” another fan said.
“At this point, hes WORSE than ARod!!” another fan wrote.
Alex Rodriguez also had his share of postseason struggles during his time with the New York Yankees. One of his worst playoff performances was back in 2006 when he recorded just one hit in 14 at-bats with no runs, hitting .071.
Many other fans continued to criticize Judge, with some showing support.
“Yeah but that was a much better AB so hopefully a sign of good things to come 🙏🏽,” a comment reads.
“This team sadly has not built for a long playoff run. Chances are they lose this series in four,” another comment reads.
“It happens. He’ll come around,” someone wrote.
In the 2022 American League Championship Series, the Yankees were swept by the Houston Astros, with Aaron Judge going 1-for-16. He finished the playoffs with 5 hits in 36 at-bats.
Yankees' Aaron Judge opens up about their "unfinished business" in the postseason
Last season, Aaron Judge missed nearly two months due to a toe injury. The New York Yankees ultimately ended the 2023 season without making it to the postseason.
Discussing their postseason struggles, Judge said (via ESPN):
"There's a lot of unfinished business, man. It drives me crazy in the offseason. During the season I try not to think about it. I try to take it day by day. But every year that we come up short, the offseason really isn't that fun."
The New York Yankees will face the Kansas City Royals again on Wednesday at Kauffman Stadium in the third game of their ALDS.
