Canadian pitcher Mitch Bratt came under the pump right from the get-go in the World Baseball Classic (WBC) against Team USA. He gave up six earned runs on 25 pitches before being taken out.
Team USA ended up with a convincing 11-run win against Canada as they bounced back from their loss on Sunday against Mexico. The mercy rule was applied, which states that the game ends if the run differential between the two teams is more than 10 after seven innings.
Mitch Bratt might have had an off day, but his teammates gave him words of encouragement before going off the mound. He came up against a lineup that consisted of several future Hall of Famers, so he had nothing to be ashamed of.

Fans took to Twitter to express their support for the youngster.
However, a section of fans criticized the Canadian management's decision to send Bratt out to pitch against established players. They felt such a move could demotivate a youngster.
Bratt's story is yet to unfold. The youngster has had only A-league experience thus far in his short career and would be looking to make it big in the majors in the future.
Fans are confident he can put this damaging experience behind him and come back stronger.
Team Canada have two more assignments in Pool C as they face the resilient Team Colombia tomorrow before taking on the fancied Team Mexico, riding high off their win against Team USA.
