For Bobby Witt Jr., the 2024 season was nothing short of incredible. Although the young star undoubtedly wishes his team went further into the postseason, Witt took a moment to reflect on the victories of the season.
Taking to his Instagram, the 24-year-old Royals star posted a montage of some of the best moments of the season. The images ranged from shots of him in action, to pictures with his fiancee Maggie, as well as some images of himself celebrating after the Royals clinched a postseason berth.
In addition to helping the Kansas City Royals make their first postseason appearance in nine years, Bobby Witt Jr. also had an incredible year in the batter's box. In 161 games, Witt Jr. led MLB in hits with .211 and batting average, with a .332 figure. Additionally, the Texas-born shortstop also hit 32 home runs and 109 RBIs - career highs on both counts.
Though the Royals were eventually eliminated by the New York Yankees in the ALDS, many KC fans view the season as a success. Several names took to commenting their support beneath Witt's heartfelt Instagram recap.
Among those who commented beneath the post by Bobby Witt Jr. were teammate Sal Perez and Vladimir Gurrero Jr. of the Toronto Blue Jays. Guerrero Jr's .323 batting average ranked second in MLB, after Witt. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes also offered his support.
Maggie Black, Witt's fiancee, also commented beneath his post. Maggie and Witt Jr. were engaged last December, and are planning their wedding currently. On her fiance's post, Maggie commented "I am emotionallllll, love you!"
Bobby Witt Jr. is only just getting started
This season, Bobby Witt Jr. was a major reason why the Royals were among the most competitive clubs in the AL. Moreover, the rising star was able to cut his teeth with his first career postseason appearance, about which he told MLB.com:
“That's the fun part of this game, this is why we do it, these situations here. It really just comes down to controlling what I can control, just being present in that moment, be where my feet are and enjoy the moment. You never know when this opportunity is ever going to happen again, so make the most of it while you have it.”
Indeed, the 2024 season for Witt Jr. was nothing short of fantastic. However, this will likely be far from the final season on which Witt can look back proudly.
