Do Jose Altuve and his wife have any children? Houston Astros star's family life explored

Championship Series - Boston Red Sox v Houston Astros - Game Six
Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros poses with his wife, Nina, and his daughter after they defeated the Boston Red Sox 5-0 in Game Six of the American League Championship Series to advance to the World Series at Minute Maid Park on October 22, 2021, in Houston, Texas.

Houston Astros star Jose Altuve is one of the most prolific hitters in the modern game. The Venezuelan pocket dynamite has been a mainstay in the Houston Astros lineup for many years.

Jose Altuve made his MLB debut in 2011, and despite being one of the shortest players in the league (5-foot-6), has gone on to win two World Series with the Houston Astros. He is an eight-time MLB All-Star and won the American League Most Valuable Player award in 2017.

In 2006, when he was only 16, Altuve was denied the chance to try out with the Astros due to his height. However, he returned the next day with his birth certificate and impressed the scouts, earning an undrafted free agent contract with the Astros in 2007.

In the same year, Altuve married his high-school sweetheart Nina, then aged 14. Nina is a bioanalyst by profession and she obtained her degree from the University of Carabobo in Venezuela. Ten years into their marriage, Jose and Nina Altuve were blessed with their first child, a daughter, Melanie Andrea, in 2016. They welcomed their second daughter in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown.

They also support various philanthropic causes.

Altuve was part of the 2017 MLB World Series-winning Houston Astros team that was involved in the sign-stealing scandal. While Carlos Beltran was the only player mentioned in MLB's official report in 2019, allegations were raised that Altuve wore buzzers to help his teammates.

This was refuted by many of his teammates, as well as Andy Martino, the author of the book called “Cheated: The Inside Story of the Astros Scandal and a Colorful History of Sign Stealing,” who confirmed that Altuve was not involved.

While none of the players were suspended, Beltran was fired from his position as the New York Mets manager even before he could start the 2020 season with the team. Alex Cora, the current Boston Red Sox manager and then Astros bench coach, was suspended for a year. He was rehired by the Red Sox in 2020.
