Fans mock the St. Louis Cardinals as they finish as Spring Training Champions deeming it irrelevant once the season begins

The St. Louis Cardinals concluded their preseason spring training session on Monday with a big win. The team finished with baseball’s best spring preseason record.

The Cardinals beat the Baltimore Orioles 8-2 in their final Grapefruit League game. This win cemented a triumphant spring training record of 17-7-5, with a .708 winning percentage, the highest in major league baseball.

The Cardinals also fielded a roster that many predict will begin their first game come opening day.

Spring training records may not really hold any value of note. However, having the best spring record must be quite an achievement, especially considering the St. Louis Cardinals missed nine big-league players for an extended period due to the World Baseball Classic.

Baseball fans swarmed Twitter to take the opportunity to mercilessly troll the Cardinals for counting statistics that had absolutely no meaning or weight of any sort.

The spring training champions, unfortunately, don't have parades, much to this fan's disappointment, presumably.

Harsh, considering the season has just started, but really, only time will tell how the Cardinals and their fans will fare this year.

The World Series would surely be sweet considering the Cardinals last won it in 2011. Twelve long years!

The Cardinals are due to open their 2023 season against the Toronto Blue Jays at 3:10 p.m. on Thursday, March 30.
