For the second time in four years, Mariana Vicente will have the chance to watch Kike Hernandez, her husband, compete in a World Series. With excitement abound, fans are recounting memories of LA's last win, which came in 2020.
In a recent upload to her Instagram account, Mariana posted a comparison of photos from the present day, and one from 20 years ago. Although the post was made to pay homage to fashion designer Ecliptica Atelier, it left many followers in awe of her apparently age-defying appearance.
A native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Mariana Vicente began to model in her teenage years. In 2010, at the age of 21, Maria was crowned Miss Universe Puerto Rico, and went on to represent her native island at the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant in Las Vegas, where she placed in the top ten.
In 2018, she married Kike Hernandez, who was then playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Hernandez, also from Puerto Rico, is one of the best-known MLB players from the island, and keeps in touch with other players who come from the US overseas territory, such as Francisco Lindor.
In response to the images posted on Mariana's account, several MLB wives came to offer their support. Among them was Lindor, the New York Mets shortstop, as well as Nicole Barnes, wife of Dodgers catcher Austin Barnes.
With Kike Hernandez and the Dodgers now four wins away from another World Series, we can be sure that Mariana and the entire Hernandez family will be watching the set against the New York Yankees very closely.
Kike Hernandez' Dodgers teammates appreciate his experience
Though often overlooked in favor of the bigger names on his team, Hernandez remains one of LA's most dependable postseason bats. A .303 hitter with two homers and five RBIs in nine games, the utility man recently gained praise from teammate Gavin Lux, who told the Los Angeles Times:
“Kiké hitting a home run and making big plays is probably the least surprising thing of the night, In the bigger games, he’s always gonna show up. He’s got that look in his eyes that he’s gonna do something big, and this team feeds off of that.”
No stranger to the kind of pressure that players feel in the Fall Classic, expect Kike Hernandez to provide a solid foundation as his team chases glory once again.
