Fans reacted as New York Yankees captain Aaron Judge recorded his first home run of the 2024 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 on Wednesday. Judge gave his team an early lead in the first inning, hitting a 403-foot homer off Dodgers pitcher Jack Flaherty to score two runs.

This home run is the first of his career in the World Series and his third of the postseason.

Several fans took to X to celebrate Aaron Judge’s big moment:

Many other fans continued to laud Judge:

“I wish I got this broadcast in Canada… "Sleeping Giant has awoken" is hard af,” a comment reads.
“So many people were hating on him during the World Series! Now look at Judge! 💪,” another comment reads.
“Long overdue. Back to back homers too. Wild start,” someone wrote.

Just after Judge provided a 2-0 lead, Jazz Chisholm Jr. extended it further with a 392-foot solo home run. In the second inning, Alex Verdugo singled off Jack Flaherty, making the score 4-0.

In the third inning, Giancarlo Stanton hit a 385-foot home run off Ryan Brasier, bringing in another run for the Yankees.

Yankees' Aaron Boone opens up about Aaron Judge and their stellar Game 4 victory

Aaron Judge entered Wednesday’s game with two hits in 15 at-bats and one run in the World Series so far. Before the game, Yankees manager Aaron Boone expressed his confidence in Judge, saying (via MLB.com):

“With Aaron, it's always one pitch away from getting as hot as anyone's ever seen.”

The New York Yankees were coming off an 11-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 4 of the World Series. Discussing the win, Boone said:

“You finally got to see, the top blow off Yankee Stadium in a World Series game.”

The Yankees had lost the first three games of the World Series but bounced back to avoid a sweep. Judge and co. will now look to extend the series further and take it to a sixth game.
