Kolten Wong is a professional baseball player who currently plays second base for the Seattle Mariners. He was born on October 10, 1990, in Hilo, Hawaii, and has been playing professional baseball since he was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the first round of the 2011 MLB draft.

Wong is 5 feet 5.7 inches tall (1.7m). While he may not rank at the top among the tall professional athletes, it certainly hasn't stopped Wong from making a name for himself in the world of baseball.

Despite his relatively short stature, Wong has proven himself to be a highly skilled player on the field. He has been named to the National League All-Star team twice (in 2019 and 2021) and has won two Gold Glove Awards for his outstanding defensive play. Additionally, Wong is known for his speed and agility on the basepaths, having stolen a total of 117 bases throughout his career.

Wong's height may not be what sets him apart from other players, but it is certainly not a hindrance to his success. Many baseball players who are considered "short" by professional sports standards have gone on to have highly successful careers. For example, Hall of Famer Joe Morgan was only 5 feet 7 inches tall, and he is widely regarded as one of the greatest second basemen in baseball history.

Kolten Wong is already fitting in well with the Seattle Mariners

Seattle Mariners fans are still making up their minds about Kolten Wong. In his first couple of games with the Mariners, he has already hit a homer but also made some costly errors. There is no doubt about his ability on the pitch but he needs to adjust to his new teammates and reduce the number of errors in his game to maximize his effectiveness this MLB season.

Ultimately, height is just one factor among many that contribute to a player's success on the baseball field. While it may be advantageous for certain positions (such as pitchers or first basemen) to have a taller stature, it is by no means a requirement for success in the sport. As Kolten Wong has demonstrated, it is possible to excel as a baseball player regardless of one's height.
