Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets silenced his critics and proved his leadership abilities in the dugout with a walk-off single against the Cleveland Guardians. The Mets secured a 10-9 victory, marking their third consecutive win and a strong start to the series.

Prior to the game, there was talk about Lindor's former Cleveland teammate, Jason Kipnis, calling out his leadership skills in the dugout. In an interview on The Foul Territory TV Podcast, Kipnis criticized the Mets, who have the highest payroll in baseball, for what he believed to be a lack of leadership. When asked if this included Lindor, Kipnis stood by his statement.

Before the game against the Guardians Lindor refused to comment on the situation stating he hadn't spoken to Kipnis and didn't have much to say about it.

"I haven't talked to him. That's how he feels, it is what it is. I don't really have much to say," Lindor said to reporters.

However quite effectively he gave his answer on the field walking it off for his team in the tenth inning. Lindor followed up a base hit by Brandon Nimmo with Francisco Alavrez already on base with a game winning single past diving second baseman Andres Gimenez.

Fans took to Twitter to speak for their favourite shorstop in retaliation to Kipnis' comments.

Jason Kipnis tries to take all credit for Francisco Lindor's walk off single

After the game, Jason Kipnis tried to take Lindor's limelight as he suggested that it were his comments that sparked something in the Mets shortstop that got them the win. Despite Kipnis trying to take credit for the win, Lindor's performance spoke for itself.

Regardless of what people say about him, Francisco Lindor is on track to become the best shortstop in the organisation's history if continues to play well. He is batting .235 this season with 32 RBIs and 6 home runs. His team too seems to have gotten back on track to a .500 PCT with 23-23 record.
