Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider was promoted to their major league coaching staff in 2019, where he worked primarily with the team's catchers. In 2022, he was named the team's bench coach.

Later that year, he was named interim manager after the firing of Charlie Montoyo. Schneider led the Blue Jays to a 46-28 record and a berth in the American League Wild Card Series.

On October 21, 2022, the Blue Jays named Schneider their permanent manager, signing him to a three-year contract with an option for a fourth season.

In 2001, Schneider played summer baseball for the Chatham A's of the Cape Cod Baseball League, a prestigious summer league for college players. He was then drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 24th round of the 2001 MLB draft, but did not sign with the team. The following year, he was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 13th round of the draft.

Schneider played six seasons in the Blue Jays minor league system, primarily as a catcher. He retired after the 2007 season due to three concussions suffered during the year.

After retiring, Schneider was hired by the Blue Jays organization as a catching instructor. John Schneider never made it to the majors due to injuries. However, the Blue Jay’s organization was happy to hire him into their organization.

Schneider quickly worked his way up the coaching ranks, becoming the manager of the Rookie-level Gulf Coast League Blue Jays in 2008. He went on to manage several other minor league teams in the Blue Jays organization, including the Vancouver Canadians, New Hampshire Fisher Cats, and Dunedin Blue Jays.

In 2018, Schneider led the Fisher Cats to an Eastern League championship and was named the league's Manager of the Year.
