The New York Mets made headlines this offseason after signing Juan Soto, who played for the New York Yankees in 2024, to a record 15-year, $765 million contract. This was the first player exchanged from Yankees to Mets and as per the latest report from Mets beat writer Tim Healy, another left-hander could be on the way to the cross-town rivals.
On Wednesday, Healy reported a potential interest from the Mets in lefty reliever Tim Hill, who posted a 2.05 ERA in 35 after joining the Yankees last year. Moreover, when things mattered, in the postseason, he thrived, posting a 1.08 ERA in 10 games.

Seeing the report, several fans reacted, with some cracking jokes on Mets signing former Yankee free agents.
"The Mets' obsession with signing ex-Yankees is hilarious," one fan commented.
"Of course they are. He played for the Yankees," another wrote.
"Mets sign all Yankee coaches scouts and players lmao," one fan added.
"Yankees better sign Hill," one fan urged the team in Bronx.
"I've never seen a team want more former Yankees players in my LIFE," one fan posted.
"WHY THE METS WANT EVERYTHING WE HAVE OR HAD?" one Yankees fan asked.
Tim Hill expected to sign one-year contract potentially with one of New York teams
The reliever market has been relatively slow this offseason with even the top name like Tanner Scott yet to be signed. Given that Tim Hill is wanted by both New York-based teams who traditionally don't sign aging relievers to anything more than one year, it's only fair to estimate that the 34-year-old could sign a one-year deal this offseason.
Hill has been an excellent ground ball pitcher (61.8% grounder rate). Before coming to the Yankees at the trade deadline, he was with the struggling Chicago White Sox, with whom he struggled, posting a 5.87 ERA with 13 strikeouts across 23 innings pitched in 27 appearances.
This led to the White Sox optioning him to the minors and subsequently releasing him on June 18. Just two days later, the Yankees handed him a one-year contract.
