The Cincinnati Reds are facing the Minnesota Twins in Minnesota on Saturday. It's a reunion for former teammates Carlos Correa and Emilio Pagan, and their families have also gathered to watch them play.
Correa and Pagan joined the Twins in 2022. Correa was coming off a long seven-season spell with the Houston Astros before signing with Minnesota. Meanwhile, Pagan, who had traveled a lot since his debut in 2017, joined his 5th club. This year, the Reds signed the bullpen arm.
Both their families seem to have bonded over their time together in Minneapolis. Correa's wife, Daniella Rodriguez, shared a picture of their children on Instagram. Their two sons, Kylo and Kenzo, shared the frame with Emilio and wife Jordyn Pagan's daughters, Paxtyn and Lexington. Daniella captioned the story as 'baseball besties.'
Emilio Pagan's Reds won the series opener against Twins
The Reds secured an 8-4 victory in the series opener against the Twins on Friday, thanks to the six-run seventh inning. Minnesota's starting pitcher, Bailey Ober, gave up four runs before being taken out of the game. The Reds had a brief scare as the Twins attempted a comeback, scoring three runs in the bottom half.
Emilio Pagan pitched a scoreless top of the eighth inning and struck out one batter. Alexis Diaz closed the ninth to get the win. The Reds' win dented Minnesota's playoff chances slightly. They remain in the AL Wild Card spot but the Detroit Tigers are just 2.5 games behind now.
However, the Twins got positive news about Carlos Correa's status. The shortstop, who has missed 51 games since the All-Star break, was activated from the 10-day injury list. He will feature in the lineup against the Reds on Saturday. The 3x All-Star has been in good form, hitting .308 with 13 home runs and 47 RBIs in 75 games.
