The Seattle Mariners have laid off their manager Scott Servais as they believe that the team needs a change of voice after a three-game sweep suffered against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez has given his two scents on the matter where he talked about how this is not something that was in his control.

This decision was primarily taken by the baseball operations manager Jerry Dipoto after the season started slipping away from the hands of the Mariners, especially when they've lost nine of their last 10 games.

As per Daniel Kramer of MLB.com, Julio Rodriguez remained neutral when asked about his take on relieving Scott Servais from his duties.

"I’m just focused on playing baseball. Those decisions are outside the players. That’s obviously higher up. We’re employees here, just like everybody is, so we’ve just got to show up and play baseball," Rodriguez said.

Dipoto said in an interview that he respects Scott Servais for his long contribution to the team over the years, but the team felt that they needed a "different vibe" moving forward.

So, despite the immense respect and admiration Dipoto holds for Servais, he said that it was deemed necessary to take the decision for the team's change in fortunes.

Scott Servais talks about his tenure with the Mariners after being fired

The former Mariners manager shared his thoughts a day after he was fired, reminsicing the great time spent with the team. Moreover, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times also revealed how Servais got the news of getting relieved by the Mariners.

He learnt about the rumors on X, like many. Before meeting up with the team's baseball operations, Scott Servais read the post from Ken Rosenthal about him getting fired at 10:37 a.m. He met up with Jerry Dipoto and he knew what the meeting was about.

"That was one of the toughest things, obviously, learning that from an alert on my phone,” Servais said.
“It was just the reality of what may be coming down here in the next few hours. When you’re part of an organization for nine years, it feels like family. And it was alarming that I found out that way, but it happened. I can’t say it didn’t happen. It absolutely happened that way."

The Mariners also laid off the hitting coach Jarrett DeHart after their devastating 8-4 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
