The New York Mets' disappointing results in the MLB continued into the final week of May, as they were swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers after a 10-3 defeat on Wednesday.
The New York side came into the doubleheader after a disappointing week, having lost their series against the SF Giants after being swept by the Cleveland Guardians. They now find themselves fourth in their division with a 22-33 record and in danger of the season getting away from them.
Fans were not happy after the latest loss as they voiced their frustration over the Mets on social media:

Some fans pinned the blame on new manager Carlos Mendoza while others turned to owner Steve Cohen, all with little hope for the future.
"Mendoza is clueless. Time for a change," wrote @IamMarcusLee on X.
"Worst owner in history," wrote @NessTheKid823.
"I see nothing but more disappointment ahead," @BarryGrodenchik.
After a horrendous start to the MLB season, the New York Mets entered Wednesday's encounter against the Dodgers with a 2-8 record in their last 10 games. Their offense ranks 23rd in the MLB with a meager .271 average, while their starting pitchers rank 24th in the league with a 4.37 ERA.
Moreover, it does not help that superstar closer Edwin Diaz is going through one of the worst spells of his career.
Hence, it is no surprise to see fans' growing frustration with the team and calling for changes. They were brushed aside with ease on Wednesday as the likes of Shohei Ohtani, Will Smith and Jason Heyward ensured a victory for the Dodgers.
Mets place struggling closer Edwin Diaz on 15-day IL
The New York Mets announced on Wednesday that star closer Edwin Diaz has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to a right shoulder impingement. The Puerto Rican entered the month with a 2.13 ERA which, after blowing three saves in his last five outings, has inflated to a 5.40 ERA.
As he has shown over the years, there is no doubt about Diaz's abilities. In his last full season in 2022, he had 32 saves and an ERA of 1.31 as he finished ninth in Cy Young voting. On a good day, he is the best closer in the MLB and his team will be hoping to see more of that after his shoulder issue is taken care of.
