New York Yankees ace Marcus Stroman brought his A-game in Monday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Stroman went the distance for the Yanks, pitching 7.1 innings, allowing three hits one earned run and one walk while striking out six.

For the first time this season, Stroman eclipsed the seven-inning mark, as his previous best and longest outing was six innings. The only run he allowed came in the eighth when right fielder Dominic Canzone took him deep. The Yanks were up 3-1 when he left the game.

The crowd erupted in loud cheers as they gave him a standing ovation when Stroman made his way to the dugout. Acknowledging the support, Stroman joined in the hype by clapping back for the support.

Alex Verdugo contributed with three RBIs on the night, with the Yankees now up 4-1.

Marcus Stroman gifts Luis Gil for his 14-strikeout gem

Marcus Stroman is a celebratory guy and he cheers on his teammates as well. On Saturday, fellow starting pitcher Luis Gil pitched a gem in a series finale against the Chicago White Sox.

Gil had a career-high strikeouts night as he finished his six-inning stay, only giving up one run and one walk, while striking out 14 hitters. This gave Gil his fifth win of the season.

To celebrate his achievement, Stroman gifted him a couple of wine bottles on Sunday.

The two wine bottles came from Marcus Stroman's own winery in Northern California.

Despite missing out on reigning Cy Young winner Gerrit Cole, the Yankees starting lineup has more than held up their end of the bargain so far this season. Cole suffered an elbow injury just before the start of the season, but in his absence, Luis Gil was vaulted into the rotation and his performances are there for all to cheer.

Carlos Rodon, too, has risen in the ranks, pitching with a stellar 3.27 ERA and emerging as one of the leaders in the pitching department. Other starters, including Nestor Cortes Jr., Marcus Stroman and Clark Schmidt have also played their part in propelling the Yankees (33-15) to the best record in the American League.

The New York Yankees have three more games with the Seattle Mariners as part of their four-game series. The next game takes place at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday.
