Los Angeles Angels slugger Mike Trout is off to another impressive start in the MLB this year, launching his eighth home run of the season against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday. Having lost the previous game 7-6 to bring the series to a tie, the veteran slugger put the Angels on the board with a 423-foot homer in the first inning.

Rays pitcher Zack Littell could only watch as Trout blasted his eighth moonshot of the season to to share the league lead with Atlanta Braves' Marcell Ozuna.

Having made his major league debut with the Los Angeles Angels in 2011, Mike Trout has been with the team troughout his career. Over the past decade, he has established himself as one of the most reliable and dangerous sluggers of his generation. In the thirteen seasons he has spent in the MLB, the slugger has made eleven All-Star appearances and bagged the AL MVP award thrice.

As he has done over the course of his illustrious career with the Angels, Trout has been leading the team by example since the start of the season. There is no doubt about his abilities and he has started the year in a form that reminds one of his MVP days.

He is currently hitting at an average of .282, with 8 home runs and 11 RBIs. His latest home run against the Rays puts him on top of the league in homers, tied with Marcell Ozuna of the Atlanta Braves.

Mike Trout breaks yet another Angels franchise record

Apart from taking the league lead in home runs for the MLB season so far, Mike Trout broke yet another franchise record with the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday.

Despite ultimately losing the game 7-6 to the Tampa Bay Rays, Trout recorded his 941st career walk, which is now the highest in Angels history. The top spot previously belonged to Tim Salmon, who played between 1992-2006 for the then Anaheim Angels.
