However, not all fans were impressed with Toescar Hernandez’s signing. Some took the opportunity to poke fun at the Dodgers.

“Deferred $65,000,000 2040,” a fan joked.
“The cartel gotta be funding the Dodgers,” another fan quipped.
“Didn’t wanna shave his beard,” another fan remarked.

Hernandez may not be the Dodgers’ last acquisition this offseason. The team is reportedly pursuing Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki. Adding Sasaki could be a major coup for the defending World Series champions as they aim for back-to-back titles.

Teoscar Hernandez rounds out Dodgers outfield

Tesocar Hernandez’s return to Los Angeles rounds out the Dodgers’ outfield. Earlier this offseason, the Dodgers extended Tommy Edman and brought in signed free agent Michael Conforto.

The Dodgers’ outfield now appears set, with Edman in center, Conforto in left and Hernandez in right. While Edman and Conforto aren’t known for their power, Hernandez brings plenty of it.

Bringing Hernandez back also helps maintain the Dodgers’ righty-lefty balance in the lineup.

According to FanGraphs, the Dodgers will likely keep that balance by hitting Shohei Ohtani leadoff, Mookie Betts second, World Series MVP Freddie Freeman third, Hernandez fourth and third baseman Max Muncy fifth.

The botbottom of the lineup includes right-handed catcher Will Smith, switch hitter Edman and lefties Conforto and Gavin Luxx.

It’s worth pointing out that the bottom three hitters, plus Ohtani atop the lineup, should continue making life difficult for opposing managers. With four left-handed hitters potentially coming up in a row, opposing managers will find it challenging to get the matchups they want.

As it stands, the Dodgers could field the toughest lineup to pitch against in the majors. With Blake Snell in the fold, the Dodgers have enough firepower to contend with the best of them.
