Royals gonna 'Royal'

In a game that we were almost sure to win, the Royals, in typical Royals fashion, blew a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 7th inning.

Jason Vargas pitched solid, but not good enough for any players that are struggling offensively to say, “Vargy pitched good.” He went 6.1 innings while only allowing 1 ER. During Vargas’ 6+ innings of work, I found this game to be very, very uninteresting. After the Royals 3-run third inning, they did not have a single hit until the 7th inning.

The real Royaling didn’t start until the 7th inning. With one on, and one out, Ned Yost looked to Kelvin Hererra hold a 3-run lead. Oh boy, did Nedly make the wrong decision! Or maybe it wasn’t so much of a bad decision as it was horrendous pitching by Kelvin Hererra.

To be honest, this is one of those games that we can’t blame Ned for. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for Ned-bashing, but he doesn’t deserve it, at least not today. It’s not like Ned can really say, “Alright team. Let’s hit homeruns, and not be the laughing stalk of the MLB today.” Because if he could, I’m sure he would. It seems as though his team likes to be mediocre. They just can’t get over that .500 mark

This was a very typical Royals game. We take the lead, and get the fans all excited, and then…We realize that we’re the Royals, and start playing like we know how. The Royals will come back to Kauffman stadium for a brief home-stand against the Houston Astros.
