When former Houston Astros star Carlos Correa fired back at LA Dodgers' Cody Bellinger over World Series cheating claims

The 2017 Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal rocked MLB and stunned baseball fans all over the world. Many Astros players were accused of being involved in the scandal, and then-Los Angeles Dodgers star Cody Bellinger was quick to point the finger.

In 2020, Bellinger claimed the Astros had been cheating for several years and accused Jose Altuve of stealing the 2017 MVP award from Aaron Judge.

Carlos Correa did not take too kindly to Bellinger's comments and fired back, saying:

“Cody didn’t have a good World Series. So for him to be talking about us 'stealing that championship,’ don’t talk about it,” Correa said. “You should not be talking about it. You should have done something about it.”

The Astros were accused of using game footage from a camera to interpret the signs of opposing teams' pitchers in 2017 and 2018. The issue came to light following an investigation by Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich, who published an article about their findings in 2019.

The MLB conducted its own investigation and confirmed in January 2020 that the Astros illegally used a camera system to steal signs during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

"Everything that happened that year was absolutely wrong" - Carlos Correa on the Houston Astros' sign-stealing scandal

In 2020, Carlos Correa spoke with Ken Rosenthal about the scandal and emphasized that not all the facts were known when people spoke to the public. He admitted that the team had made mistakes and had apologized for them.

"Oh, usually I don't have problems when people talk about 2017 and what happened that year because honestly, we're wrong. Everything that happened that year was absolutely wrong and we show remorse for that because, you know, we feel bad about everything that happened."

The Astros were stripped of their first- and second-round picks in the 2020 and 2021 drafts, respectively, but were allowed to keep their 2017 World Series crown.

Houston Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow and field manager AJ Hinch were both suspended for the entire 2020 season, while a $5 million fine was levied on the organization.
