When former Oakland Athletics star Jose Canseco claimed his brother failed to get the same gains as him with PEDs

In a June 2010 interview with ESPN, former Oakland Athletics star Jose Canseco opened up about how his twin brother, Ozzie, failed to succeed in MLB despite using PEDs.

Jose, who admitted using PEDs during his major-league career, pointed out how steroids did not transform MLB players into super athletes and stressed the importance of talent and hard work.

"Let me give you a perfect example. I have an identical twin brother, Ozzie. He is the closest thing to me genetically. And in my prime I was a super athlete. I was the fastest guy in the game. I was 240 pounds and I could hit a baseball 600 feet. The best arm in the game.

"My twin brother used the same chemicals, same workouts, the same nutrition. Why didn't he make it in the big leagues? That is the perfect example that we are giving steroids way too much credit. If steroids are that great it would have made him a superstar."

Ozzie made his MLB debut with the Oakland Athletics on July 18, 1990. However, he only participated in 24 games during the course of his career with the Athletics and St. Louis Cardinals between 1990 and 1993.

In March 2011, Jose Canseco sent his twin brother Ozzie in his place for a boxing match against Billy Padden. Ozzie was caught red-handed when he took off his shirt, as he lacked tattoos on his biceps like Jose.

Jose was sued by the organization's promoter, Damon Feldman, effectively ending his boxing career.
