Former MLB star Jose Canseco admitted to using steroids during his major league playing career. But even he was once shocked by baseball athlete Bret Boone's drastic transformation.

Canseco had no words after seeing Boone's transformation. In Canseco's autobiography "Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant 'Roids, Smash Hits and How Baseball Got Big," he suggested that Bret Boone used steroids in 2001.

“I hit a double, and when I got out there to second base, I got a good look at Boone,” Canseco wrote. “I couldn’t believe my eyes. He was enormous. ‘Oh, my God,’ I said to him. ‘What have you been doing?’ ‘Shhh,’ he said. ‘Don’t tell anybody.’ "

Bret Boone responded to Jose Canseco's claims

Boone, who made his MLB debut in 1992 with the Seattle Mariners, seemed annoyed with Canseco's claims of his steroid usage and denied them. Boone said to The Times that he hardly spoke to Jose Canseco and wasn't sure why he was saying these things.

“I don’t know him. He doesn’t know me. I don’t think I’ve ever exchanged more than two, three words with him. The whole thing is absolutely ridiculous. End of story. I’m not going to comment beyond that. It’s so ridiculous. That incident he writes about in the book is false. The most I’ve ever said to him is, ‘What’s up, Jose?’ ”

In his autobiography, Canseco made many revelations about baseball players who used steroids, but he regretted disclosing it.

"People are afraid to deal with me," Canseco told ESPN in 2010. "I've been trying to get into the entertainment industry, acting industry. Maybe some martial arts roles. Producers didn't want to touch me."

The same accusations were made in Canseco's 2008 book, "Vindicated: Big Names, Big Liars, and the Battle to Save Baseball," which was a sequel to his 2005 memoir.

Jose Canseco was the only MLB player in history to smash 40 home runs and steal 40 bases in a single season, but PED use marred his legacy.
