Nepal Invitational Women's Club Basketball Tournament: Hosts HIMS win title

Hosts Himalayan International Model School (HIMS) of Kathmandu, Nepal defeated Ekalavya Model Residential School of Sikkim, India 57-54 in the final to lift the title of the 1st HIMS Invitational Club Level Women's Basketball Tournament here at Kathmandu.

HIMS took the first quarter 21-11 while Ekalavya took the second quarter 18-6. Going into the half time break it was Ekalavya leading 29-27, but after the break HIMS took the third and fourth quarters 18-14 and 12-11 respectively to clinch the trophy.

"Woman of the match" Samikchya Neupane netted a game-high 18 points for HIMS while Gyanu Gauchan netted 13, Neha Chaudhari netted 11, Preeti Tulachan scored 10 and Maya Syangten netted 5 points for the winners. Nima Bhutia was the top scorer for Ekalavya with 10 points.

Nima Bhutia of Ekalavya Model Residential School of Sikkim was declared Most Valuable Player of the tournament and received Nepalese Rupees 10,000 in cash prize.

This first of its kind tournament in Nepal consisted of four invited teams: hosts HIMS, Ekalavya (India), Saipal Academy (Nepal) and RIBS All Star (Nepal) took part in the event which was held in the premises of HIMS at Kathmandu.

The winners HIMS took home a cash prize of Nepalese Rupees 100,000 while Ekalavya took home Nepalese Rupees 50,000.
