BGMI’s return to India has been making the headlines for the last few days and has become a hot topic of conversation among fans. Earlier this week, Krafton made the landmark announcement on the game’s social media handles, rekindling a sense of joy among the fanbase yearning for its return for the last 10 months.
In one of their blog posts, the developer confirmed that the services would be resumed in May 2023, and it is expected to be reopened with the 2.6 update, the latest version in PUBG Mobile. Moreover, another message from the game’s support reveals that a new update will be ushered in, reaffirming this assumption.
BGMI 2.6 update expected APK details
BGMI has received a three-month provisional approval from the Indian government after the game complied with all the issues pertaining to server locations and data security. Finally, all eyes are now on the availability of the battle royale title since the servers were taken offline following the official announcement.
Once the game is back, players can download the version through the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. The developer is also likely to provide an APK on the official website, offering another alternative to players.
The APK download size of the BGMI 2.6 update is expected to be in the same ballpark as the PUBG Mobile 2.6 update, which went live on May 17, 2023. Accordingly, players may anticipate the compact version to weigh in to be around the range of 600 MB to 700 MB.
After downloading the APK file, they must also download one of the resource packs to proceed. Two options are available for the same: Low-spec Resource Pack and HD Resource Pack.
Considering this, players will need at least 1-1.5 GB of storage space to download and install the game. Following the download of the resource pack, the size may increase further, to around 3-4 GB.
Device requirements
Back when BGMI was initially made available, the developer specified on the official support section of the game the following minimum requirements for Android devices:
- Version- Android 4.3 or High
- GPU– Adreno (TM) 306 or High
- RAM – Min 1.5 GB RAM
Requirements for the iOS devices were as follows:
- iPhone: Requires iOS 9.0 or later
- iPad: Requires iPadOS 9.0 or later
- iPod touch: Requires iOS 9.0 or later.
Players should expect the requirements to remain the same or be somewhat closer to this with the relaunch. However, it is worth mentioning that matching the minimum requirements will not ensure a smooth experience, and they would need a device with decent specifications to run the game smoothly at a stable FPS.
