How low would Gennady Golovkin go for Floyd Mayweather Jr.?

Can Golovkin come down to 154?

There has been discussions going on about Floyd Mayweather- Gennady Golovkin for a while on the social medias and fan forums. And ‘Money’ at the Broner-Porter bout in Vegas, said the camera man Marcos Villegas that he’d be too cerebral for the middleweight (GGG) with the angel face and hands constructed by the devil.

Floyd talking to the Fight Hype said:

“Golovkin, he goes out and does what he has to do…at my weight right now, you know, I walk around at 150…148, 150….probably be a good fight for me, probably would, but you know, I’m almost finished.”

When GGG’s promoter, Tom Loeffler was asked about Gennady coming down to 154 lbs and whether we would see him fight May, he said:

“If it’s a realistic possibility, Gennady would fight at 154, Floyd has two titles there, after all, And if you’re the best ever. I don’t see an issue with that. Floyd is not obligated to do the fight, of course, but Gennady would be the highest profile foe out there, other than De La Hoya.”

When asked about, how low could or would Gennady go? “154, I think that’s the lowest realistic weight,” Loeffler said

Even though some feel Golovkin vs. Mayweather fight as the height of ludicrousness, and Golovkin is too damn big. He’s not a big middleweight. Loeffler also noted that Golovkin has been weighing at 159 his last few fights, and in fact, no, he doesn’t bulk up to light heavy on fight night. He’s around 168 on fight night.

Golovkin vs. Mayweather definitely sounds good, but what seems like a more practical match is Golovkin vs. David Lemieux. As the new IBF title holder Lemieux expressed his desire to fight triple G.
