Amandeep reaches finals; Jai Bhagwan gets a walk-over

New Delhi, March 16: Six Indian boxers will fight it out tomorrow at the finals of the Commonwealth Boxing Championships being played at the state of the art Talkatora Indoor stadium. The tournament which comes to an end tomorrow started from the 12th of March 2010. Six Indian pugilists paved their way to the finals of the championship. The championship has a participation of over 100 boxers from 14 countries.

The day started for the Indian boxers in the Light Fly 49 kg category when Amandeep defeated Malaysian boxer MFBM Redzuan 7:1. Redzuan who was given a warning in the third round, conceded two points thus loosing the bout by a difference of six points. The second Indian bout of the day was between Jai Bhagwan and English Boxer Dany Phillips in the light 60 kg category. Jai Bhagwan got a walk over from the English boxer who did not even come to the ring. With this win Jai Bhagwan moves to the final tomorrow.

“It feels good to reach the finals and I will give my best tomorrow to earn medals for the country,” said Jai Bhagwan after his win.

Olympic medallist Vijender Singh along with team mates Suranjoy Singh, Dinesh Kumar, Jai Bhagwan, Amandeep and Parmjeet Samota shall fight it out for the gold medal in their respective categories.
