Americas ( Boston, Miami, Los Angeles, Mexico City), Asia ( Astana, Delhi, Baku), Europe ( Paris, Moscow, Milan, Istanbul).

e) All Franchisees had done their homework well and had prepared strategies as to which all International Boxers need to be picked up in order to ensure that they first win at the Continental level so as to qualify for the semifinals and then go on to win the finals at Macau.

f) The Indian Franchisee Team was represented by Videocon (Mrs Pooja Dhoot, Ms Tanushree Dhoot and Mr Prateek Ajmera), IMG (Mr Ravi Krishanan, Mr Matt Bailey & Mr Vidhur Naik), Indian Boxing Federation ( Col PK Muralidharan Raja & Coach Mr Jagdish Singh) and Foreign Expert Coach Mr Ronald Simms from USA.

g) The methodology at World Series Boxing was announced that draw of lots will be taken for each weight category to determine as to which Franchisee would get the first pick and the next and so on. After all Franchisees had got their First Pick, the process would be repeated for the second boxer for each Franchisee till all the Franchisees said ‘ Out’ or ‘Pass’ meaning they did not want any more boxers in that weight category.

h) Bantam Wt. There were 7 Franchisees who wanted boxers in this Wt Category ie. Paris, Los Angeles, Delhi, Boston, Baku, Miami and Milan. Delhi was at third spot. As we already had Akhil Kumar and Jitender Kumar, we only needed one boxer and hence the ‘Think Tank’ which had worked out the various permutations and combinations got our first choice of Doniyorov Tulashboy of Uzbekistan who was a former Olympic Bronze Medalist.

i) Light Weight. There were 9 Franchisees who wanted boxers in this Wt category ie. Los Angeles, Istanbul, Miami, Mexico, Baku, Boston, Delhi, Milan and Paris. Although we were seventh in the order of picking, we still got our first choice of Sultonov Bahodirjon of Uzbekistan who was an Olympic Bronze Medalist at Athens 2004 as well as a Bronze Medal at World Championships at Milan in 2009. Similarly David Joyce of Ireland who was the European Union Championships Gold Medalist in 2008 & 2009 was the second boxer to be picked by India. These two join Jai Bhagwan who had already been signed up.

j) Middle Wt (73 kgs). There were 6 Franchisees who wanted Boxers in this Wt Category ie. Milan, Baku, Los Angeles, Miami, Delhi and Mexico City. As the Delhi Franchisee had not picked any National Boxers in this Wt cat, we had to pick 3 boxers. As the Delhi Franchisee had done its homework well, we got the boxers of our choice although we were 5th in the order of draw. Ie. Victor Cotiujanschii of Moldova, Hakobyan Andranik of Armenia who was a Silver Medalist at World Championships in Milan in 2009 in 75 kgs where Vijender had got a Bronze Medal, Chuluntuumur Tumurkhuyag from Mongolia.

k) Light Heavy. 9 Franchisees wanted boxers in this Wt cat ie. Los Angeles, Moscow, Baku, Miami, Mexico City, Boston, Delhi, Milan & Astana. Although we were at seventh spot to pick our choice, We got our choice of Ben Chhabla Abdel Hafid of Algeria. As we already have Vijender and Dinesh in this Wt Cat, we needed only one more boxer.

l) Heavy . This was one Wt Cat wherein all the 11 Franchisees present wanted boxers ie. Miami, Delhi, Astana, Mexico City, Milan, Istanbul, Los Angeles, Boston, Paris, Baku & Moscow. As Delhi was lucky to be second for the pick, we could get Top Ranked Roman Kapitonenko of Ukraine who won the Silver Medal at AIBA World Championships at Milan 2009 as well as the Gold Medal in AIBA President’s Cup 2009. The second Boxer that Delhi picked up was Onoriode Ehwarieme of Nigeria.
