Aaliyah Gayles is a collegiate basketball guard for the USC Trojans in the Big Ten Conference. Gayles graduated from Spring Valley High School and is a redshirt sophomore for the Trojans as of the 2024-2025 season. She was regarded as the eighth-best player in the nation by ESPN during her senior year at Spring Valley. She had a remarkable senior year, averaging 13.8 points, 3.3 assists, 3.5 steals, and 4.9 rebounds per game. Gayles was also chosen as a McDonald's All-American, a Naismith High School All-American, and a Jordan Brand Classic. She received recognition as a Las Vegas Sun Standout player and a Super Seven. In 2021, Aaliyah helped Spring Valley win the Class 5A state championship.
As per ESPN, Gayles missed her first season at USC due to injuries sustained after being shot many times. She made a comeback in the 2023–2024 season, played in seven games, and won the CWSA’s Honda Inspiration Award. Gayles redshirted her freshman year at USC because of injuries in the 2022-23 season. She played her first college game against FGCU on November 10 and played in seven games in the season. She scored her first career 3-pointer against Cal Poly the same month.
