Cooper Flagg is a college basketball player who plays as a shooting guard or small forward for the Duke Blue Devils, in the ACC. He attended Nokomis Regional High School where he became the first freshman to be named the Maine Gatorade Player of the Year. This came after Cooper Flagg averaged 20.5 points, 10 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 3.7 steals, and 3.7 blocks per game. He helped the side win the Class A state championship by scoring 22 points and recording 16 rebounds as the team won 43–27 against Falmouth High School in the state final. As his freshman year concluded, he moved to Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida. Flagg played in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) for the Florida Eagles ahead of his first year at Monteverde Academy.
Flagg was named to the 2024 McDonald's All-American Boys Game squad. Additionally, he was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year, Mr. Basketball USA and the Naismith Prep Player of the Year. Flagg concluded the season with 7.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.7 blocks per game in his final high school season with 16.4 average points. After the end of his freshman year, Flagg was ranked the third-best prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. The player transferred to play at Duke University in June 2024. He made his debut for the college against Maine which was a season opener in 2024. He recorded 18 points with seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals as the team won 96-62. He was named to the Preseason All-America First Team, Newcomer of the Year, and Preseason Second Team All-American in the 2024-25 season. He was a member of the 2022 Men’s U17 National Team, which won the gold medal at the 2022 FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup.
