Amiah Simmons is a collegiate basketball guard for the San Jose State Spartans, as of January 2025. Simmons began her basketball prep career at Blue Valley Southwest School, where she was a three-year member of the basketball program and ran track as a freshman. As a junior, she averaged 18.2 points per game leading all of 5A in scoring in 2019-2020. Additionally, she recorded double-figures in every game and posted at least 20 points seven times. Simmons also recorded at least three steals in seven games. She was a key player who led the 2018-19 club to win 18 games, bag the KSHSAA State Championship, and win the first of two Sub-State Championships. During her high school career, as a track athlete, she earned All-State honors as a freshman. Additionally, she ended a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles at the KSHSAA State Championships.

During her career at Osawatomie High School, Simmons was one of the top recruits in the State of Kansas. She focused on multiple sports, namely, basketball, volleyball, and track, for one year of her time with the team. She averaged 34.0 points per game and was named All-State and Tri-County Player of the Year. Her name was also enlisted in the State All-Star Game, in which she recorded 23 points. As a sophomore in college, Simmons played in 29 games and started in 16 of them. The American college basketball player averaged 10.1 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 24 minutes per game. Additionally, she shot 36 percent from the field and claimed double figures in scoring 15 times. In the 2022-23 season, she managed to score three double-doubles.
