Kim Barnes Arico Coaching History

Arico embarked on her coaching journey as a head coach at Fairleigh Dickinson-Madison in 1996 where she spent one year before accepting a head coaching role at New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1997. But after two years she left the program to join Division II college Adelphi where she led the program to three successive postseason appearances. Her contributions in those three years earned a spot in the Adelphi Hall of Fame in 2014.

In 2002, Barnes Arico was announced as the head coach at St. John's University where she still holds the record for most wins. She spent 10 years with the program and transformed the Red Storm into a national powerhouse. Arico compiled a 176-134 overall record and guided St. John’s to four NCAA Tournament appearances. She arrived at Ann Harbour in 2012 and took Michigan to new heights in the coming years. In her first five years with the program, Michigan posted a minimum of 20 wins each year. From 2018 to 2024, she led the Wolverines to six successive NCAA tournament appearances. Last year, Barnes Arico signed a contract extension which will keep her at Ann Harbour until the 2027-28 season.
