March Madness is used to refer to all the excitement and action that takes place during the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament every year. Every year, 68 teams compete for a chance to become the NCAA champion. Only one team is successful in becoming the champion.

Notably, the 68 teams of March Madness are all 32 conference champions and 36 wild card teams. 37 schools have managed to win the NCAA men’s basketball championship throughout the years. Out of these, the UCLA Bruins have won the NCAA championship the most with 11 times. Other teams also have had their share of winning the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament championships. Usually, these teams face each other in a single-elimination tournament to reach the finals. The team that is left standing is declared the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament champion for the year.

The total number of brackets possible in a March Madness cannot be determined in numbers. As per ncaa.com, there are 63 games in a particular NCAA tournament bracket. Therefore, it can be said that March Madness can consist of an estimate of approximately 9.2 quintillion brackets.

When are Brackets due for March Madness for 2025?

The brackets for the 2024-25 March Madness were revealed on March 16, 2025.

That being said the brackets consist of First Four on March 18, 2025, and March 19, 2025, the first Round on March 20, 2025, and March 21, 2025, second round on March 22, 2025, and March 23, 2025, Sweet 16 on March 27, 2025, and March 28, 2025, Elite 8 on March 29, 2025, and March 30, 2025.

Then there will be the national semifinals, called the Final Four, on April 5, 2025, and the national championship game on April 7, 2025. This will determine the NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament champion for 2025.
