Connor McCaffery's brother, Jack McCaffery, Michael Ajayi, Efeosa Oliogu-Elabor and other Butler stars were in the Hinkle Fieldhouse on Thursday. The CBB standouts participated in a friendly dunk contest in front of a small crowd of aspiring hoopers.
The basketball program posted images and videos of dunks from their players and fan reactions on Instagram.
"Air Dawgs 🛫 #DawgsOnly," the post read.
The dunk contest came during the ongoing Thad Matta Basketball School basketball camp at the Hinkle Fieldhouse. It spans three weeks and prioritizes the development of players from grades two to eight.
The Butler coach and his staff oversee all the aspects of the camp, including schedule, drills and growth plan for the participants. The objective of the event is to ingrain the fundamentals of the sport into young players and get them to enjoy competition.
The main focus of the clinic is on passing, ball-handling and shooting. A dedicated trainer is always on the floor, regardless of the level of the participants. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and provides participants with lunch from either Chick-fil-A or Hot Box Pizza.
Children in grades seven and eight won't be allowed to participate in Week 3 (June 16-19) of the Thad Matta Basketball School basketball camp, as the dates align with the recruiting dead period, one of the most restricting stretches. The coaches and staff aren't allowed to be in contact with recruits in any capacity during this time.
Butler Bulldogs enter scheduling agreement with Notre Dame
The Butler Bulldogs have struck a two-year agreement with Notre Dame, where the two teams will play a home-and-away contest against each other. The first game of the series will be in October when the Fighting Irish visit the Hinkle Fieldhouse.
It will be a homecoming for ND coach Micah Shrewsberry, who was previously associated with the Bulldogs. He was an assistant coach under Brad Stevens and helped the program mount back-to-back NCAA championship game appearances.
Bulter will visit Notre Dame at the start of the 2026-27 season to conclude the scheduling agreement. Their contest this season will be the first since 2015.
