The Purdue Boilermakers will enter the new season without Zach Edey and Lance Jones. Edey has declared for the 2024 NBA draft, while Jones exhausted his college eligibility.

Ethan Morton and Mason Gillis have entered the transfer portal. The rest of the roster has not been through any changes but will be adding new signees as Purdue looks to replicate this season's impressive run in 2024–25 as well.

Basketball players who could return to Purdue for 2024-25 season

#1 Fletcher Loyer

The sophomore guard averaged 10.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists this season. He shot 41.6% from the field and 44.4% from the three-point range. Loyer has been a permanent starter for Purdue since his freshman season and that is expected to continue next year as well.

Fletcher Loyer has had inconsistent performances this season, including the huge slump in February. His biggest focus will be to ensure that he maintains himself.

With Zach Edey gone, there is no case of a single player pulling the load for Purdue now. And Loyer will be one of the first people coach Matt Painter will turn to.

#2 Braden Smith

Smith saw a huge jump in performance this season as he averaged 12.0 points, 5.8 rebounds and 7.5 assists while shooting 44.1%. The guard put pressure on the opponent's defense with his scoring prowess while also creating shots for himself and his teammates.

Along with Loyer, Braden Smith will be leading Purdue's exploits next year.

#3 Trey Kaufman-Renn

The red-shirt sophomore averaged 6.4 points and 4.0 rebounds. Despite being a starter for all 39 games, Trey Kaufman-Renn averaged just 16.9 minutes of game time. His performance was a slight improvement from last year.

The forward has the height advantage at 6-foot-9 and good athleticism.

With Edey gone, coach Painter would push for Trey Kaufman-Renn to contribute more on the defensive end, specifically in guarding around the rim while also taking advantage of his decent shooting skills (51.1% from the field and 33.3% from deep).

#4 Camden Heide

The freshman had a poor outing this season. Camden Heide recorded his career-high 18 points against Rutgers in February, as he went 7-7 from the field and 4-4 from the three-point line.

Heide has exhibited flashes of his shooting prowess. However, he must work on consistency while also scaling up his numbers.

#5 Myles Colvin

The freshman averaged 3.3 points, and 0.9 rebounds while playing 8.5 minutes. Despite the limited minutes, Myles Colvin was patiently waiting for his moments while consistently working on his skills, specifically defense.

He said in an interview that he is slowly paying more attention to the game and polishing his skills. Speaking on Colvin's skills and minutes, coach Painter said:

"He needs more of an opportunity. It’s tough when you have a lot of guys with it, but he’s kept a positive attitude and continued to work. You see when he gets out there, he can make things happen." (via Indy Star)

Hopefully, in the next season, Myles Colvin will be able to take on a bigger role and help his team.
