Braden Smith, born on July 23, 2003, is an American basketball player who has left an indelible mark on the court throughout his college career. Hailing from Westfield, Virginia, the 20-year-old point guard started his high school career at the Westfield High School where his mother serves as the athletic assistant director and the girls’ basketball coach. Braden was considered a three-star recruit by 247Sports during his sophomore years and was named Indiana Mr. Basketball in 2022.

His journey to collegiate stardom began at Purdue University in 2022 where he has already made 65 appearances registering a whopping 732 points and 365 assists. His outstanding contribution this season earned him a nomination in the Top 5 finalists for the 2024 Bob Cousy Award. Braden became the third freshman in Big Ten history to score a minimum 340 points along with 150 assists and 140 rebounds in a single season.
