Sac State commit Mikey Williams picks LeBron James and Rob Dillingham as favorite NBA players

New Sacramento State Hornets guard Mikey Williams revealed the players he looks up to. On Tuesday, during a Q&A session on his Instagram stories, one user asked Williams about his favorite NBA players. The incoming sophomore named four-time NBA champion LeBron James and Minnesota Timberwolves rookie Rob Dillingham as his favorites.

Williams announced on April 29 that he will be transferring to the Hornets next year, coached by NBA legend Mike Bibby, after just one year with coach Johnny Dawkins' UCF Knights in the 2024-25 season.

"Currently, Mr. Dillingham. Ever, Bron," Williams wrote.

James and Dillingham matched up in the first round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs, where Dillingham's Timberwolves defeated James and the Los Angeles Lakers 4-1. The four-time NBA regular season MVP wrapped up his 22nd NBA season, while Dillingham's rookie year was halted by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference Finals.

In his first year of collegiate hoops, Williams averaged 5.1 points and 1.9 rebounds in around 14.0 minutes in 18 games played for the Knights.

On April 29, Mikey Williams announced through his Instagram account that he will be transferring to the Sacramento State Hornets for the 2025-26 season. His incoming coach and NBA legend Mike Bibby acknowledged that Williams has a chip on his shoulder and the program will help him overcome it.

"We're excited to bring Mikey into the family. He's an incredibly talented player with something to prove, and this is the right environment for him to grow, both on and off the court," Bibby was quoted as saying.

In the 2024-25 campaign, under the tutelage then of interim head coach Michael Czepil, the Hornets finished with a record of 7-25 and just 3-15 during this year's Big Sky conference play. Bibby was appointed on March 31 to be the team's newest head coach.
