On Monday, Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners secured the commitment of Noah Best. The four-star interior offensive lineman was one of the most sought-after players at his position in the 2026 class.
Following the announcement, college football fans had a lot to say.
"Horrendous decision young man!" one fan said.

"Friendly reminder that OU’s football program would be completely irrelevant without the great state of Texas. 🤘," another fan said.
"OU scrapping with Kanas State for recruits now🤣🤣 fall off needs to be studied," one fan wrote.
Some were more positive about the news.
"Smart decision. Young man over Midzou," a fan commented.
"Great choice !! OUDNA," a fan tweeted.
"This kid is big time. I know i know "3 star U" but this kid is legit," another fan wrote.
Best, who measures 6-foot-4 and 295 pounds, is the No. 15 interior offensive lineman his class. He received offers from SMU, Kansas State, Texas Tech and Missouri. However, his mind was likely made up from the get-go to join Venables' program.
According to OU Insider, Best is a lifelong Oklahoma fan, and he was elated on June 6, 2024, when he received the offer to play for the Sooners. He was on campus exactly a year later for an official visit, which made him commit.
Best is Oklahoma's ninth commit in the 2026 class. He joins Will Conroy as a standout offensive line prospect set to marshall the Sooners in the next cycle.
What to expect from Brent Venables and the Sooners in 2025?
Brent Venables and the Sooners are hard at work in securing the immediate future of the program. The coach will enter his third season at Oklahoma.
Aside from getting top-tier recruits, Venables is looking to post a significantly better record in the 2025 campaign. The former linebacker is fresh off leading the Sooners to a 6-7 (2-6 Southeastern Conference) record last year, including an Armed Forces Bowl loss to Navy.
Venables and Oklahoma will start their 2025 regular season with a home game against the Illinois State Redbirds. They'll look to pick up a morale-boosting win before they face some of the best teams the SEC has to offer.
