It has been a month of departures for the Colorado Buffaloes and coach Deion Sanders, with 20 players entering the transfer portal, bringing the total number of departures to 31 players since the end of last season.

After a promising 3-0 start to last season, the Buffaloes went 1-8 to end the season 4-8, missing out on bowl eligibility. Sanders promised to revamp his team by replacing underperforming players from the transfer portal.

Recently during an appearance on "All The Smoke Podcast," the $45 million worth coach (as per Celebrity Net Worth) opened up about preparations for next season by hiring NFL professionals.

"We started with the offensive and defensive coordinator, we're pros man. I went out and got some pros man, my offensive coordinator, my defensive coordinator and several physicians. In college ball, we get 10 hired positions plus the coach it's 11. Seven of the ten come from the NFL, we've got NFL experience. Inside this building we've got 179 years of NFL experience," Deion Sanders said.

Deion Sanders dismisses transfer portal leavers

The Buffs lost former five-star cornerback Cormani McClain, receiving back Dylan Edwards and right tackle Savion Washington to the transfer portal among others bringing the departures to twenty.

Recently, while speaking to reporters before the Buffs spring game, Deion Sanders dismissed the media hysteria over the number of departures from his team and his unusual recruitment methods.

"I wish you guys would do a little more homework when you start talking about the portal and understand what we're losing," Deion Sanders said. "We're good. I trust the recruiting team. I trust our coaches. Please have some faith in me. We're good. We're alright. What happens with the portal, man, and what you guys need to know, a lot of people are fighting for backups."

Apart from recruiting extensively from the transfer portal, Sanders has also revamped his team by hiring almost exclusively professionals with NFL experience.

During an episode of "Thee Pregame Show," Sanders revealed that he approaches recruitment and team building like an NFL team.

“I know what works for us and what has worked for us tremendously. We’ve patterned this thing like the NFL. The NFL only has several draft choices and a 53-man roster. We go about it from a free-agency standpoint,” Sanders said.

It's not all doom and gloom for Deion Sanders as he has recruited tailback Dallan Hayden from Ohio State, offensive lineman Payton Kirkland and edge rusher Dayon Hayes from Pittsburgh.
