The Nebraska game went from bad to worse for Colorado when safety Shilo Sanders left the game in the first half with an apparent forearm injury and the Buffaloes went on to lose the game. His father and Colorado coach Deion Sanders delivered the bad news at halftime that Shilo would not be returning to the game.
"I think a broken forearm, something like that, so he won't be back at all," Deion Sanders told NBC.
On Monday, the charismatic Colorado coach took to X and shared pictures of his son from the hospital after getting medical attention and Shilo alongside his older brother Deion Sanders Jr. while in a wheelchair with his arm in a sling.
Coach Prime captioned the post:
"God is Good! Can’t wait to see u back ready to go. Love ya son! @ShiloSanders @DeionSandersJr," he wrote.
With Shilo off the field, Nebraska strolled through the Colorado defense and ended up winning 28-10 on an evening where the Cornhuskers were in control of the game from kickoff.
Shilo Sanders played in all 11 Colorado games last season and tallied a team-high 70 tackles, one quarterback fumble, three pass breakups, four forced fumbles and a famous pick-six which earned him All-Pac-12 honors.
He had a stop-start offseason as he dealt with a shoulder injury that required extensive rehabilitation.
Shilo Sanders headlines Colorado injuries
Shilo Sanders was not the only Colorado player who got hurt during the bruiser in Lincoln against an inspired Nebraska Cornhuskers led by quarterback Dylan Raiola. Buffs quarterback and Shilo's brother Shedeur Sanders was sacked four times and had to leave the game in the fourth quarter after being hit by a Cornhuskers player.
The Buffs were hit with a slate of injuries with defensive tackle Chidozie Nwankwo also leaving the game in the fourth quarter with a forearm injury and was seen with a sling on his left arm.
Two-way star Isaiah Hardge, who joined the Buffs as a wide receiver but experimented as a defensive back during the offseason, also suffered a foot injury in the game and his status against Colorado State remains unknown.
With his arm in a sling, Shilo Sanders will not get the chance to replicate his famous pick-six from last year's heated Rocky Mountain Showdown against the Colorado State Rams.
