Shilo Sanders, former Colorado defensive back and son of Colorado coach Deion Sanders, signed a one-year, $840,000 contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. He will wear No. 28, not the No. 21 he wore at Colorado, the team confirmed during rookie minicamp on May 9.
Sanders was one of 15 UDFAs signed by Tampa Bay, a group that includes former Florida defensive lineman Desmond Watson.
Ahead of his NFL debut, Sanders gifted his former Colorado teammates Apple Watches. A video shared by the βWe Comingβ X account on Sunday showed the moment, sparking reactions online.

Todd Bowles praised Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders is participating in OTAs with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. He has shown a strong media presence and solid on-field play.
Coach Todd Bowles praised Sandersβ ability and left the door open for him to earn a roster spot. Competing on a playoff-caliber team, Sanders faces tough competition at safety, including Marcus Banks and Kaevon Merriweather. If he doesnβt make the 53-man roster, he remains a candidate for the practice squad.
Shilo and the team will open the 2025 NFL season on Sept. 7, against the Atlanta Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. ET. Their first preseason game is Aug. 10 against the Tennessee Titans, but the regular-season opener marks the official start of the season.
