Oregon QB Dillon Gabriel hypes up former Oklahoma star General Booty for committing to ULM: "Man's gonna turn that thing up"

Former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback General Booty announced his ultimate destination after entering the transfer portal a few weeks ago. The quarterback announced his move to the Louisiana Monroe Warhawks.

Oregon Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who played with Booty in Oklahoma, hyped up his former teammate on Instagram for his move. He captioned a graphic announcing his teammate's transfer:

"Booty me down!!! #TTAB Mans gonna turn that thing up @generalbooty," Gabriel wrote.

General Booty and Dillon Gabriel were close during their stay in Oklahoma. The Warhawks quarterback revealed in an interview with USA TODAY how much his former teammate taught him.

“I loved the time I have got to spend at OU. The people make that a special place,” Booty said.

“I got to learn from Dillion Gabriel how to attack each game week and prepare. From coach Venables, I learned how important it is to establish culture and I will cherish my time I had with all my teammates.”

General Booty comes home

General Booty has become well-known due to his unique name which has landed him a few NIL deals and for being the son of Abram Booty and the nephew of John David Booty and Josh Booty, all of whom played football.

General started his college football career at Tyler Junior College before transferring to the Oklahoma Sooners although he only appeared briefly in two games, against the TCU Horned Frogs and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

In an interview with USA TODAY, Booty revealed why he chose to join the Warhawks who changed their coach to Bryant Vincent citing the coach's vision, development of quarterbacks and the location of the program near his home.

“I was in Shreveport until I was 12 years old, and I have a lot of great memories and friends in Louisiana,” Booty said. "His (Vincent's) vision for the program along with the staff and team he has put together was very impressive. Secondly, being close to where I grew up in Shreveport all my family will be able to come to the games and watch me play.

“Lastly, the history of quarterbacks in the (ULM) program with guys like Stan Humphries and Doug Pederson (a former Calvary coach) who have come through there and the love for football in the community of Monroe.”

General Booty will have two years of eligibility remaining and will hope to finally kickstart his college football career after two years of barely playing at Oklahoma.
