Will Fast 11 use time travel? Fast X director reveals its possibility

Fast X left us on some major cliffhangers. Even though Vin Diesel has teased plans for Fast 12, Fast X was originally going to be part 1 of 2. So, it played similarly to Avengers: Infinity War, which also left us asking questions about the ultimate fate of half the Universe. It killed off characters like Vision permanently, and some others died temporarily, thanks to Thanos’ snap.

Similarly, Fast X killed off a couple of characters permanently, and the fate of others hangs in the balance. So, a new theory states that just like Fast X drew parallels with Avengers: Infinity War, Fast 11 could do the same with Avengers: Endgame by using time travel. But Fast X director Louis Leterrier may have killed the theory already.

Louis Leterrier recently told EW that he couldn't have gone bigger than 2021's F9, which went to space. So instead, he brought things back to Earth. He said:

"What could I do? Time travel? There's nothing I could have done that's bigger than that. There's no way. They went to space, so I was like, 'Let's bring it back to Earth.'"

With time travel not being involved, it's confirmed that Dominic Toretto and Little B will survive. They might be saved by Brian O'Connor or someone like Luke Hobbs, but they won't die due to the explosives set up by Dante.

How Fast 11 could have used time travel

If Fast 11 were to be inspired by Avengers: Endgame, and if time travel was going to be involved, then the film would have opened with the deaths of Dominic Toretto, little B, Tej, Roman, Han, and Ramsey. Then in the first half of Fast 11, we would have seen the likes of Brian, Mia, Hobbs, Shaw, Letty, Cipher, Gisele, Mr. Nobody, and his daughter Tess unite.

Mr. Nobody would have provided Cipher with the resources to crack time travel. Considering that cars play an important role, a time machine could have been attached to the car, Back to the Future style. That's how they'd go back in time to save everyone that died toward the end of Fast X.

The likes of Gisele and Deckard might have gone to save the Roman and Tej group. Letty and Brian could have gone to save Dom from the explosion, and Hobbs and Mia should go to save Jakob Toretto. Coming back to the future, we'd see a massive team-up just like the Avengers portal sequence.

Dom, Brian, Letty, Luke Hobbs, Deckard Shaw, Jakob, Roman, Tej, Mia, Cipher, Han, Gisele, Tess, and even Owen Shaw would line up to fight the army of Aimes and Dante. Then Fast 11 would have ended up with either Dom or Brian’s sacrifice to save the world and take down Dante.

But ultimately, this theory would only stay a theory. Besides the director’s confirmation, another argument for this to not happen is that if there was a plan to kill off Dom, we would have seen it happen in Fast X. The screen would not have cut to black before the explosion.

Furthermore, Dante is supposed to be coming for Hobbs and Deckard Shaw’s mother. So, he won’t just sit idle while the rest of the crew figures out time travel. Hence, Time travel may not be a thing in Fast 11 after all, and Brian might be Dom’s best hope.
