Ravichandran Ashwin came into the Indian team as an off-spinner on back of his impressive domestic performance. Ashwin impressed the world with his bowling and became a regular feature in the Indian one-day and test squad.

In his first test series against West Indies in the year 2011, Ashwin scored his first Test century proving his prowess as a batsman. It would be a misnomer to call Ashwin a bowler. He has the potential to be an elusive impactful all-rounder who India have been searching for since ages.

Ashwin did not impress much with the bat outside the Indian subcontinent until he scored a century against West Indies in the Caribbean side in the year 2016. India were struggling at 126 for 5 when Ashwin came to the crease. He stitched a beautiful partnership of 213 runs with the Indian wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha. He scored 118 runs before he was dismissed off the bowling of Cummins.
