3 Reasons why India’s Test series against West Indies is completely irrelevant before the Australia tour

#1 False impression on the player’s form

If the previous two reasons combine, then the outcome will be a no-brainer. England’s tour exposed the flaws in the technique of Indian batsmen. It was not the first time in recent times.

Earlier, the tour against South Africa also did the same. However, a one-off Test series against Afghanistan (before the England tour) changed the mindset of everyone. Suddenly, the Indian batsmen, especially the openers looked in good shape ahead of the England tour.

After the England tour, both those openers lost their place in the India squad against West Indies. Since Rahul is the first-choice opener now, either Mayank Agarwal or Prithvi Shaw will make their Test debut in the upcoming series.

Suppose if any one of the debutants performs well in the West Indies series, then selecting that player for the all-important Australia tour will be unfair.

When all these three reasons are put together, then the series against West Indies looks completely irrelevant ahead of the ‘Thunder Down Under.’
