Many pundits consider Ricky Ponting as one of the best Test batsmen in the modern era. He was technically sound batsmen capable of hooking the ball both from the front foot as well as the back foot. For his batting displays, he was much admired even by his rivals on the cricket field. As a captain, he led one of the best teams in Australia's history and were almost unbeatable at their prime.

Ricky Ponting made his Test debut against Sri Lanka at Perth on 8th December 1995. In the first innings, he was dismissed on the bowling of the legendary Chaminda Vaas on 96.

Rahul Dravid known as the "Wall" is regarded by many as one of the best defensive batsmen ever to grace the game. He was an incredibly patient and sound batsman who made life difficult for the bowlers due to his stubborn defence.

Dravid, in many matches, played a critical in stabilizing the Indian batting-order and saving it from collapsing.

Dravid made his Test debut against England at Lords on 20th June 1996. He was unlucky to get out on 95 in India's first innings in that match.
