India has been one of the toughest opponents in world cricket for quite some time irrespective of the format of the game, Tests, ODIs or even T20Is.

Most of India's opponents expect their best batsmen to score maximum runs in almost all the matches while playing against India in India given the batting depth of the home nation. While each batsman's score for a team is crucial, still there needs to be one batsman to anchor the innings and add to the team's total.

Australia's recent success in India, especially in game 2, was due to the heroics of one of their batsmen, Glenn Maxwell.

In this article, we look at the 4 highest totals by batsmen against India, while playing in India.

4. Aaron Finch's 89 at SCA stadium, Rajkot

Aaron Finch's performance in the two-match T20I series in Australia's tour of India 2019 was not his best. He looked a bit frail under captaincy pressure. However, when the same team toured India in 2013, he looked at his absolute best.

In the only T20I match of the series, Finch scored a massive 89 runs from 52 balls with 14 boundaries and one six at a strike rate of 171.15. Unfortunately, Australia lost the match after a heroic run chase spearheaded by Yuvraj Singh's 77*(35) and MS Dhoni's 24*(21).

The Aussie captain has the capacity to best this performance in the future. He would be happy if that contribution comes in a winning match.

3. Brendon McCullum's 91(55) at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai

Glenn Maxwell is widely recognized in India for his swashbuckling IPL performances. The Aussie enjoys a reputation of a demi-god in the cricket frenzy India. However, when it comes to international performance in India, Maxwell had not been able to live up to those standards until Australia's tour of India 2019.

Like a dragon, Glenn Maxwell breathed fire and destroyed the Indian attack. Maxwell scored 169 in the two-match T20I series. His best knock of 113*(55) came in the second T20I at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

The Australian batting all-rounder entered the match after the unfortunate early wicket of his skipper Aaron Finch and contributed 58.25% to the team's total.
