#4 Mahela Jayawardene - 39

Australia v Sri Lanka - 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup
Mahela Jayawardene’s run out dismissal percentage of 9.33 is the lowest among all players on this list

The former Sri Lankan great may figure in this list but one of the big reasons for Mahela Jayawardene’s presence here has to do with the fact that he played as many as 448 ODIs in his career. In a career spanning around 17 years (1998-2015) and those many games, it is not entirely surprising for a player to be run out a fair few numbers of times. That being said, 39 is still a considerable figure and makes up 9.33 percent of Jayawardene’s dismissals.

The Sri Lankan great was not a bad runner by any stretch of the imagination but over the course of his career he did often get involved in mix-ups with his partners and that was perhaps one of the big factors in him being run out 39 times. However, it is also necessary to point out that Mahela Jayawardene’s run out dismissal percentage of 9.33 is the lowest among all players on this list.
