5 debatable decisions taken by the current Indian selectors
#4 The number 4 conundrum
One of the biggest talking points in Indian cricket in the recent past has been the absence of a stable number 4 in India's ODI team. While the selectors have been trying to find the player best suited for that position in the batting order, their choices have been questionable. Dinesh Karthik was dropped from the ODI side after a couple of starts in the Asia Cup. Despite his poor form in Test cricket, Karthik has done reasonably well in limited-overs cricket.
There wasn't much difference between Karthik and Rayudu's performance in the Asia Cup, but the latter was preferred for some unknown reason. Rayudu, who had a fantastic IPL for CSK, has struggled against good pace-attacks and it will be interesting to see how he fares in Australia and New Zealand.
Also, the likes of Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant have been in and out of the side which shows the lack of thought process from the selectors.
