5 foreigners who have played alongside both MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli in the IPL

The IPL has been one of the biggest platforms for local and global talents to come together and showcase their potential. There are few players who are extremely good with their talent even though they keep changing teams. Two of the sides, the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Chennai Super Kings, have been the most popular side and several famous players have represented the two franchises in the IPL.

Here are five players from foreign countries in the IPL who have played with both Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni two of the most popular players in the IPL:

#5 Samuel Badree

The leg-spinner who is known for his mysterious variations has been a successful bowler in various T20 tournament all over the world. He is tall and can extract bounce from the surface and confuse batsmen with his change in grip.

He was part of the Chennai Super Kings in 2014 and played four games for them, picking up two wickets in the process. He was later acquired by the Royal Challengers Bangalore before IPL 2016, but sustained an injury and could not play. He joined the RCB team for one season in 2017 and picked up nine wickets from seven games including a hat-trick.

The left-arm pacer, Dirk Nannes has been one of the few players to have represented two international teams - Australia and Netherlands. The bowler who was known for his tight lines, Nannes was purchased by the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2011 and played two games for them. He was later replaced by Chris Gayle in the franchise.

He then joined the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2013 and played five games but could pick up only four wickets. He did not play in the IPL after that.

The off-spinner is one of Sri Lanka's biggest sporting legends and was known the world over for his variations and the turn in his deliveries. Muttiah Muralitharan played for multiple franchises in the IPL and was also part of the RCB and CSK, two of the biggest sides in the IPL.

He was part of the Chennai Super Kings from 2008-2010 and was very successful for the franchise under MS Dhoni, picking up more than 10 wickets in all three seasons. He then joined the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2012 and was very successful that season picking up 15 wickets from 10 games. He also played in the 2013 and 2014 season.

The swashbuckling batsman was known for his aggressive batting style during his international career and continues to play T20s around the world after retirement. Famous for hitting a century in the opening game of the IPL in 2008, McCullum was part of the Chennai Super Kings in 2014 and 2015 and played under MS Dhoni's captaincy, where he was very successful. In 2015, he also scored an unbeaten 100 for them, his second century in the IPL.

He now plays for the RCB in IPL 2018 but has not been given many chances by the franchise.

Another retired international player who is enjoying T20 games around the world, Shane Watson was picked up by the Chennai Super Kings in this year's IPL and has been in great form for them, giving them good starts at the top of the order and also hitting a century in one of the games.

He was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore before this, for IPL 2016 and 2017 and was not exactly in great form under Virat Kohli's captaincy with the bat. With the ball, he had a good season in 2016, picking up 20 wickets for them.
